Marbæk Strand is a sandy beach in a heavily used beach park near Frederiksund town. The beach has rapidly increasing depth and is characterized by sand with stones. Water salinity is brackish at 1–2%. The beach has been awarded Blue Flag status.

Location

Located at the end of Østersvej, 3600 Frederiksund, Denmark, near the old shell works. Parking is available 200 m from the beach edge with good capacity. Accessible parking for disabled persons is provided.

Season

Monitoring occurs from April to October. Dogs are banned in the Blue Flag Zone from April to October. Dogs are allowed on a leash outside the Blue Flag Zone during summer. Dogs are allowed in the Blue Flag Zone during winter (October to March).

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent (classification level 4). Monitoring station 184 conducts 13 samples per bathing season. Blue-green algae bloom risk is low, occurring only rarely during several days of calm warm weather. Macroalgae and phytoplankton bloom risk is low, though seaweed may occasionally occur. Heavy rainfall can cause some impact from wastewater, lasting up to 3 days depending on size and current/wind conditions.
