Milano Marittima - 100 m S Foce Scolo Cupa is a sandy bathing beach in Cervia, Emilia-Romagna region, extending from the southern pier of the Canale Via Cupa Nuovo channel southward for approximately 200 metres. The beach is classified as excellent quality for bathing waters and experiences medium visitor usage. The surrounding area features sparse discontinuous residential development inland and coniferous woodlands in the hinterland.

Water

Coastal marine waters in a flat alluvial area with high stability. Beach width is 50 metres. Area extent: 0.198 km². No watercourses discharge into the bathing water profile, and no direct discharges to sea are present.

Location

Located in Cervia, Ravenna province, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Coordinates: 12.3495°E, 44.2993°N. The beach extends from the southern pier of Canale Via Cupa Nuovo southward for 200 metres. Two beach establishments provide facilities.

Facilities

Two beach establishments with first aid services, toilet facilities accessible to people with disabilities, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports facilities, and food and beverage services.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 30 CFU/100 ml; (95th percentile): 38 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 19 CFU/100 ml; (95th percentile): 22 CFU/100 ml. No short-duration pollution events were recorded during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No direct discharge sources or diffuse pollution sources identified.

Risks

Beach undergoes strong erosion maintained in equilibrium through periodic sand replenishment interventions. The proximity of Canale Via Cupa Nuovo foce may cause eutrophication phenomena. Macroalgae proliferations (genus Ulva) occurred during July–August 2018 in the central northern coastal stretch, modifying beach recreational use during biomass accumulation phases. No cyanobacteria-driven eutrophic phenomena have been reported.
