Lido di Savio is a sandy beach bathing area located 100 metres north of the Foce Scolo Cupa in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The beach is approximately 80 metres wide and classified as excellent water quality based on monitoring data from 2015–2018. The area is subject to periodic sand replenishment interventions. The beach is backed by sparse residential development with public and private service facilities, and inland coniferous woodland.

Water

Coastal marine waters in a flat alluvial area with high stability. Area extent: 0.144 km². No watercourses or direct discharges flow into this bathing water profile.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The bathing area extends from 150 metres north of the north breakwater of the Canale Via Cupa Nuovo to the north breakwater of the Canale Via Cupa Nuovo outlet. Coordinates: 12.3494°E, 44.3013°N.

Facilities

One beach establishment with first aid services, toilet facilities including disabled access, hot showers, accessible facilities without architectural barriers, sports facilities, and food service points.

Season

Monitoring conducted during bathing seasons 2015–2018. No short-duration pollution events were recorded during these seasons.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2015–2018 reference years). Escherichia coli: 30 CFU/100 ml (90th percentile), 39 CFU/100 ml (95th percentile). Intestinal enterococci: 21 CFU/100 ml (90th percentile), 25 CFU/100 ml (95th percentile). No pollution sources from direct discharge points identified in the bathing area.

Risks

The proximity of the Canale Via Cupa Nuovo outlet to the south may cause eutrophication phenomena. Macroalgae blooms of Ulva species occurred in July–August 2018 in the central-northern stretch of coast. No cyanobacterial blooms or phytoplankton toxicity events were recorded during 2015–2018.
