Lido di Savio - Sud is a sandy coastal bathing area located in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, extending from 350 metres south of the South pier of the Savio river mouth to 150 metres north of the North pier of the Cupa drainage outlet. The beach is 60 metres wide and in equilibrium with respect to erosion. The area experiences medium bather usage and is backed by scattered residential development, campsites, and light tourist facilities. The water body is classified as a coastal marine water in a flat alluvial zone with high stability.

Location

Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The bathing area extends from 350 metres south of the South pier of the Savio river mouth to 150 metres north of the North pier of the Cupa drainage outlet. Coordinates: centre at 12.3475°E, 44.3088°N.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 38 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 51 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 28 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 35 CFU/100 ml. No direct watercourse discharges or direct sea discharges are present in the bathing area. No direct discharge pollution sources are identified.

Risks

During the bathing seasons 2015–2017 no macroalgae blooms were recorded. In July–August 2018, proliferations of Ulva macroalgae occurred in the central-northern coastal section. No phytoplankton blooms were reported during 2015–2018. No cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena were reported.
