This bathing water encompasses the parishes of Mindelo and Vila Chã in Vila do Conde municipality and includes four beaches: Mindelo, Pinhal dos Elétricos, Laderça, and Terra Nova. These are semi-urban beaches characterized by rocky outcrops and some erosion. The water body is classified under the PTCOST2 designation and is part of the Ave River basin.

June 14 to September 14, 2025.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/2009 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Sampling frequency is every two weeks. No days of bathing prohibition or advisory were recorded due to short-term pollution events during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution events are unlikely but may occur during heavy precipitation, which can cause microbiological load discharge from rainwater collectors at Mindelo and Laderça beaches. Malfunction of pumping stations in the area surrounding Mindelo, Pinhal dos Elétricos, and Laderça beaches may also cause pollution. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential is low; macroalgae proliferation potential is moderate; phytoplankton proliferation potential is low.
