Vila Chã bathing water covers the parishes of Labruge and Vila Chã in Vila do Conde municipality and includes four beaches: Congreira, Vila Chã, Pucinho, and São Paio/Moreiró. These are semi-urban beaches with rocky outcrops. The water body is monitored every two weeks during the bathing season.

Season

June 14 to September 14, 2025.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/2009, amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012. No bathing days were advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution events during the 2025 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution is unlikely but may occur due to excessive flow from a tributary during rainfall, causing microbiological contamination, or from vessel spills. Pollution may also occur if pump stations fail in the areas around Congreira, Vila Chã, and Moreiró beaches. Faecal contamination may originate from Ribeira das Gatas stream or Vila Chã harbour. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential is low. Macroalgae proliferation potential is moderate. Phytoplankton proliferation potential is low.
