Miramare - Rio Asse N is a sandy beach located on the border between Riccione and Rimini municipalities in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The beach extends approximately 150 meters and is not protected by cliffs. It features a free beach area and is a high-tourism zone with numerous hotels and bathing establishments. A constant rescue service operates during the bathing season.

Water

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial area with high stability. The bathing water area extends 0.156 km². The beach width varies between 120–140 meters (as of 2018). The Rio dell'Asse channel influences the area, functioning as an open natural ditch and is only buried in the final section at the shoreline.

Location

Located on the border between Riccione and Rimini municipalities in the Rimini province, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. The beach is situated in the central-southern coastal area.

Facilities

Lifeguard service is present during the bathing season. No bathing establishments are present in the area. Animal access is regulated by regional and municipal ordinances.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2019–2022). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 42 CFU/100 mL; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 55 CFU/100 mL. Enterococci (90th percentile): 18 CFU/100 mL; Enterococci (95th percentile): 21 CFU/100 mL. An anomalous situation occurred on 26 July 2022 when Escherichia coli exceeded legal limits; this was officially recognized by the European Commission as an anomalous situation and was replaced with data from 28 July 2022 for classification purposes.

Risks

The Rio dell'Asse drainage basin can cause pollution from agricultural and urban runoff during intense rainfall events. Potential eutrophication phenomena may originate from the Rio dell'Asse. No phytoplankton bloom events (Fibrocapsa japonica) were reported during 2019–2022. No macroalgae bloom events were reported during 2019–2022. No sustained eutrophic phenomena caused by cyanobacteria have been reported.
