Riccione - Rio Asse S is a sandy beach bathing area located on the border between Riccione and Rimini municipalities in the Emilia-Romagna region. The beach extends approximately 150 metres and is not protected by cliffs, with a free beach zone available. The area is highly frequented for tourism with numerous hotels and beach facilities, and maintains constant lifeguard services during the bathing season.

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial area with high stability. Water body area: 0.152 km². The beach area extends approximately 150 metres and is 120–140 metres wide.

Location

Located at the border between Riccione and Rimini in the Rimini province, Emilia-Romagna region. Beach width varies between 120–140 metres. One beach facility is present at the location with first aid services.

Facilities

One beach facility with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, sports facilities, and refreshment points. Lifeguard service operates constantly during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2019–2022 reference years). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 89 CFU/100 ml, (95th percentile): 131 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 21 CFU/100 ml, (95th percentile): 24 CFU/100 ml. No anomalous situations occurred during the 2019–2022 bathing seasons.

Risks

The Rio Asse stream mouth is identified as a potential short-duration pollution source. Eutrophication phenomena may originate from the proximity of Rio Asse. No cyanobacterial eutrophic events have been reported in the past four years. No phytoplankton (Raphidophyceae Fibrocapsa japonica) blooms were recorded during 2019–2022. No macroalgae blooms were recorded during 2019–2022. No toxic effects from phytoplankton or macroalgae were registered.
