Molo is a sandy beach bathing water in the Margherita di Savoia-Barletta water body along the Puglia coast. The area is predominantly agricultural, with the Ofanto river basin influencing local hydrology. The Ofanto has a marked torrential regime with significant flooding in autumn and winter and very low water levels in summer. Water quality has been classified as excellent for the period 2017–2020.

Location

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). Monitoring is conducted through analysis and processing of historical data on contamination parameters over at least the last four years. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the last four years.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include treated wastewater discharge from the Margherita di Savoia treatment plant delivered via submarine pipeline and the mouth of the Ofanto River to the north. No cyanobacterial blooms or toxic algal proliferation has been identified. No anomalous situations have been verified.
