Lido Pilastri Spiaggia Quartina is a grassy beach located on Lake Mergozzo in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. The beach has a width of 475 metres and is freely accessible to the public. Water quality is classified as good, based on routine monitoring from 2021 to 2024. The bathing area is used for water sports in addition to swimming.

The beach is free and unmanaged. Animal access is prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good. Based on 19 routine samples collected between 2021 and 2024. Escherichia coli 90th percentile: 287.2 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 491.6 MPN/100 ml. Enterococchi 90th percentile: 198.6 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 323.7 MPN/100 ml. A wastewater treatment plant in the municipality serves urban sewage, discharging to the Toce River rather than the lake.

Risks

Two streams approximately 200 metres upstream of the bathing area may affect water quality during heavy rainfall. Scattered houses upstream could contribute contamination during intense precipitation. Short-duration pollution events may occur due to overflow structures activated by heavy rainfall or accidental failures of lifting equipment discharging untreated sewage into the lake. No anomalous events have been recorded. No cyanobacterial bloom potential is known. No macroalgae, phytoplankton proliferation, or toxic effects have been documented.
