Næs is a small sandy beach located in a rocky cove south of Allinge on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. The beach stretches approximately 100 metres and transitions quickly from sand to rocky bottom. Water depth increases rapidly from the shore, with several skerries rising above the water surface. A bathing ladder provides access from a concrete platform at the northern end of the beach. Strong onshore winds present a bathing hazard.

Water

Sandy beach in a rocky cove, approximately 100 metres long. Water depth increases rapidly from the shore. Stable salinity between 7 and 8 ‰.

Location

South of Allinge on Bornholm, Denmark. Access is from Tejnvej via Søndergade, Balran, and Åsbakken. A public toilet is available at the beach. Restaurants and shops are located in Allinge.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on 2016–2019 monitoring data. A storm overflow from a sewage pumping station located 100 metres from the shore at 6 metres water depth operates only in emergency situations. The Tejn Treatment Plant treats wastewater from multiple communities and discharges to the Ålebæk stream. Warning signage is displayed if beach contamination risk is detected.

Risks

Strong onshore winds. Blue-green algae blooms occur naturally in the surrounding Baltic Sea area during warm periods (July–August), particularly in calm, sunny conditions. Algae may form toxic substances; ingestion should be avoided. Bathing is not recommended where algae concentrations are high, particularly for small children and dogs. Kelp and other macroalgae periodically wash ashore, causing odour and aesthetic issues.
