Bacteriological monitoring includes testing for E. coli and enterococci. Cyanobacteria monitoring is conducted. Quality results vary seasonally with summer monitoring during July and August.

Risks

Physalies (jellyfish) are identified as specific hazards. Phytoplankton and macroalgae presence is monitored. Swimmer's dermatitis cases have been documented. Potential pollution sources include domestic wastewater, non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater runoff, Capbreton port activities, agricultural runoff, and leisure activities. Water renewal rates and visitor frequency impact water quality.
