Nymølle Strand is a bathing beach approximately 2 km long located on the eastern side of Kås Bredning, north of Knud Strand in Denmark. The beach is 15–20 meters wide and consists of broad bands of sand and gravel or stones. The seabed is sandy with stones, particularly in the southern end. The beach is shallow, with a distance of 200–400 meters to a depth of 2 meters. The water is classified as excellent quality, the best classification bathing water can have. Water temperature varies between 10°C and 22°C during the bathing season.

Water

Kås Bredning in Limfjorden, a saltwater fjord. Sandy seabed with stones. The beach is shallow with water depth of 2 meters at 200–400 meters offshore. Salinity is consistent with saltwater. Water temperature ranges from 10°C to 22°C during the bathing season.

Location

Approximately 0.5 km north of the summer house area, a side road leads to the parking area at the beach. Good parking facilities are available with access to the beach via several paths. GPS reference point: Ny Mølle Strand, Heden 13A, Rødding, 7860 Spøttrup. The nearest town is Skive.

Facilities

Life ring, toilets, tables and benches, waste bins. A memorial chimney to the former Nymølle Brick Works. Ginnerup Plantation with burial mounds and walking trails is located near the parking area. Dogs must be kept on a leash from 1 April to 30 September.

Season

Data used for classification covers the bathing season; water temperature monitoring indicates the season aligns with typical European bathing periods.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent, based on E. coli and enterococcus data from 2016–2019. Analysis of bathing water data over the last 5 years shows stable conditions with low bacterial levels. Risk of short-term fecal contamination is low.

Risks

Risk of algal blooms including other microscopic algae species, seaweed and eelgrass deposits, and pollen accumulations. High risk of Pacific oysters (invasive species) on the beach. Low risk of blue-green algae, fecal contamination, oil spills, oxygen depletion, and chemical pollution. Seaweed can cause water turbidity and bacterial growth during decomposition.
