Ørding is a bathing beach on the southeastern coast of Mors in Denmark, approximately 1.5 km from Ørding town and 300 metres from Ørding holiday resort. The beach is approximately 300 metres long and consists primarily of fine sand with small stones at the water's edge. The beach width varies from approximately 5 to 7 metres. Water depth is gradual, with 2 metres depth reached approximately 250 metres from the shore.

Water

Limfjorden classified as salt water. The beach extends approximately 300 metres in length with widths varying from 5 to 7 metres. Water depth reaches 2 metres approximately 250 metres from the shore. Dominant current direction is from southwestern and western directions.

Location

Located on southeastern Mors, approximately 1.5 km from Ørding town and 300 metres from Ørding holiday resort. Access is via the public road Østerbyen, which becomes a gravel road in the final section leading to the beach. Parking is limited at the beach itself but available along the sides of the gravel road.

Facilities

Bathing jetty operated by Grunderejerforeningen Ørding, tables and benches, lifeguard station, shelter located approximately 1 km north of the beach.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification based on routine monitoring for indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season from 2013 to 2016. No nearby faecal pollution sources have been identified. Watercourses nearest to the beach are over 1 km away with no documented impact on water quality over extended periods.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria and phytoplankton blooms is low but can occur, particularly during prolonged warm periods with nutrient-rich water. Risk of large quantities of seaweed (macroalgae) being washed ashore is low. Glass fragments, litter, and chemical pollution including oil spills may occur. Sudden pollution from ship accidents, recreational boats, and sewer lines is possible.
