Sillerslev Havn is a bathing beach located on southern Mors, approximately 300 meters long and 20–25 meters wide. The beach consists primarily of fine sand, with a sandy seabed interspersed with small stones. Water in the area is classified as saltwater, with dominant current directions from the west. The beach has been classified as excellent quality based on routine monitoring of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted between 2013 and 2016.

Water

Saltwater beach in Limfjorden. The beach is approximately 300 meters long and 20–25 meters wide. Water depth varies depending on location: closest to the pier, the 2-meter depth is reached approximately 40 meters from shore; farthest from the pier, it is reached approximately 200 meters from shore. Dominant current directions are from the west.

Location

Sillerslev Havn is located on the southernmost part of Mors in close proximity to Sillerslev Harbour. Access is via the public Havnevej road, with good parking facilities available at the beach.

Facilities

Toilet, changing room, public bathing pier, tables and benches, rescue station.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples collected regularly between 2013 and 2016, analysing for E. coli and enterococci. The classification is revised annually before the bathing season. Requirement values for excellent quality: enterococci ≤100 per 100 ml, E. coli ≤250 per 100 ml.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and phytoplankton blooms is assessed as low, but blooms can occur during prolonged warm periods with nutrient-rich water. Algal blooms can cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea. Accumulations of seaweed (macroalgae) may occur during onshore winds and can promote bacterial growth. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occur at the beach. Sudden pollution from ship incidents, pleasure boats, or sewage pipes may arise.
