Orb river. Study zone covers 200 km² with a linear extent of 12.7 km on the Orb. Mean low-flow discharge (etiage): 4.8 m³/s. Summer flood discharge: 19 m³/s.

Location

Cessenon-sur-Orb commune, on the Orb river. The study zone extends from the hamlet of Ceps on the commune of Roquebrun to the bathing point in Cessenon-sur-Orb.

Water Quality

Bathing water classified as type 2 profile under directive 2006/7/CE. Water quality classified as insufficient. The site is managed by the commune of Cessenon-sur-Orb. Profile was classified as sufficient quality in 2010 and required revision before end of 2013.

Risks

Identified contamination risk with known causes. Potential risks include aquatic vegetation proliferation, cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton. Accidental pollution risks are noted. Short-term pollution events are possible during rainfall when tributaries are activated.
