Paraggi is a predominantly sandy beach located within a small cove in the Portofino Marine Protected Area along the Ligurian coast. The eastern section of the beach is characterized by rocky coastline. The beach is backed by private bathing establishments offering services and dining facilities. The area has low urbanization with Provincial Road 227 of Portofino running nearby.

Coastal waters within a small cove. Beach area extends 0.472 km. Rocky coastline on the eastern section. Influenced by the Torrente dell'Acqua Morta watercourse.

Location

Portofino municipality in Genova province, Liguria region. Located within the Portofino-Zoagli water body. The beach is situated within a small inlet called Paraggi.

Private bathing establishments with services and dining facilities available.

Water Quality

Classification: Excellent based on the 2021-2024 four-year assessment. No wastewater treatment plants are located within the bathing water. A wastewater discharge pipe from Punta Pedale facility is located approximately 2.2 km east of the sampling point. The area is characterized by low urbanization.

Risks

The Torrente dell'Acqua Morta stream mouth discharges directly into the bathing water. During heavy precipitation and increased stream flow rates, potential transport of wastewater downstream may occur. Ostreopsis ovata microalgal proliferation has been recorded in the regional monitoring network (Area 9) at the reference station in Zoagli, with exceedances recorded in July 2022 and elevated values in June 2022 and July 2024. Inhalation of aerosol from Ostreopsis ovata produces temporary and reversible respiratory effects in sensitive individuals.
