Zona Olivetta is a bathing area located on the rocky coastline east of Portofino harbour. The zone is characterized predominantly by sheer cliff faces, with surrounding forests of angiosperms and conifers. It is part of a protected marine area. The water body extends across 0.988 square kilometres.

Location

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). No coastal treatment plants, discharge pipes, or Imhoff tanks are present. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to predominantly oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded.

Risks

Harbour-related pollution impacts have been identified. Short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations are under evaluation using a developing modelling approach.
