Pellestrina - S. Vito is a bathing water location on the southernmost island separating the southern portion of the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Location

Located in Venice, Veneto region, Italy. The station is positioned approximately 4 km from the north dam of the Chioggia port mouth. Competent authority: Municipality of Venice, Coast Guard (telephone 1530), and ARPAV (email: oaa@arpa.veneto.it).

Water quality classification: excellent (2021–2024). EI95° 15.156; EI90° 13.955; EC95° 10; EC90° 10. No river mouths identified as pollution sources.

Risks

Wastewater treatment discharge from Venice-Lido treatment plant (60,000 equivalent inhabitants, design capacity) discharges directly to sea approximately 4 km from the coast. Numerical predictive modelling is used to identify short-duration pollution events.
