Pellestrina Caroman is a bathing water located on the southernmost island of Pellestrina, which separates the southern portion of the Venetian Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. The beach at Ca' Roman functions as a natural oasis and breeding ground for protected bird species. The beach is also under observation for the natural evolution of coastal dune systems. The beach width ranges between 50 and 100 meters.

Location

Located in the municipality of Venice in the Veneto region, approximately 500 meters from the northern dam of the Chioggia port mouth. The bathing water extends 1.041 km.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2021-2024). EI95° 16.899; EI90° 15.228; EC95° 16.048; EC90° 14.723. Treatment of wastewater occurs at the Venice-Lido wastewater treatment plant (design capacity: 60,000 equivalent inhabitants), with discharge directly to sea approximately 4 km from the coast. No river mouths identified as pollution sources.

Risks

Presence of Ostreopsis ovata exceeding 10,000 cells/l recorded during 2021-2024 (reference: ISTISAN Reports 14/19).
