Pellestrina is a bathing water area located along the southernmost island separating the southern portion of the Venice Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. The beach at Ca' Roman functions as a natural sanctuary and breeding ground for protected bird species. The beach is also monitored for the natural evolution of dune systems. The bathing water area extends 0.741 km and is oriented along a north-south axis.

Location

Pellestrina, Venice Province, Veneto Region, Italy. The monitoring station is positioned approximately 500 metres from the northern dyke of the Chioggia port entrance and 150 metres north of the Caroman dyke beginning. Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (years 2021–2024). EI95° 26.022; EI90° 21.634; EC95° 10; EC90° 10. Wastewater treatment: Venice-Lido treatment plant (design equivalent inhabitants: 60,000) discharges directly to sea approximately 4 km from coast. No river mouths identified as pollution sources.
