Pissourio Bay is a straight sandy beach at the base of a hill in the Limassol district of Cyprus. The beach is 720 metres long with an average water depth of 2 metres and a maximum depth of 3.5 metres. The area features shrubby vegetation including palm trees and eucalyptus. Food and recreation facilities are located along the beach, with hotel units situated inland. The beach can accommodate a maximum of 1200 swimmers daily and has been awarded Blue Flag status.

Water

Coastal bathing water within the Gulf of Episcopi West. Beach length 720 metres. Average water depth 2 metres. Maximum water depth 3.5 metres. Sandy seabed with uniform grain composition. The bathing area belongs to hydrological basin 9 with an average elevation of 438.2 metres.

Location

Pissourio community, Limassol district, Cyprus. A seafront pedestrian pathway serves swimmers along the length of the beach. Parking is available.

Lifeguards and lifesaving equipment. Changing rooms, toilets, and showers. Waste collection bins along the entire beach length. Disabled access facilities. Parking. Sunbeds and umbrellas available during summer season. Blue Flag designation.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body of water is in good ecological status. Monitoring has been conducted since Cyprus joined the European Union in 2004. No incidents of short-term pollution were recorded during the 2008-2010 swimming seasons.

Risks

Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton growth. Negligible risk of short-term pollution. Potential pollution sources include malfunction of sewerage systems in coastal developments, though all tourist complexes, recreation centres, and hotel units have biological treatment stations.
