Kathari is an extensive sandy beach with few pebbles located east of Paphos Airport in southern Cyprus. The beach is situated south of the coastal road with access via an agricultural road. The shoreline is natural with sandy bottom and sparse pebbles. Vegetation in the area is shrubby, including a few palm trees.

Water

Coastal bathing water body in Southern Paphos with a beach length of 340 metres. Average water depth is 2 metres with a maximum depth of 3.5 metres. The seabed is sandy with few pebbles.

Location

Kathari is located in the Paphos district, within the Timis community, east of Paphos Airport. Access is via an agricultural road from the coastal highway.

Facilities

Waste collection bins are present along the entire length of the beach, maintained by Timis community. No public facilities are available for public use.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. The coastal body of water is in good ecological status. Maximum daily bathers: 500 people.

Risks

Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton development. Short-term pollution risk is small, primarily from passing vessels. One recorded pollution incident occurred on 21 July 2009 attributed to a passing ship.
