Kolympos is an extensive sandy beach with a few pebbles located east of Paphos airport in Cyprus. The beach features dining facilities and shrubby vegetation with a few palm trees. The natural shoreline has a sandy bottom with some pebbles. The beach is 800 metres long with an average water depth of 2 metres and a maximum depth of 3.5 metres.

Located in the Paphos District, Community of Timi, east of Paphos airport. Coordinates: 32.5103°E, 34.7081°N.

Facilities

Public facilities are available on the beach. Waste collection bins are located along the entire beach length, maintained by the Community of Timi. Dining facilities are present. No lifeguards, toilets, showers, disabled access, or flags are mentioned.

Season

Monitoring has been conducted since 2008. Southeastern winds predominate during the swimming season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since 2008. The associated coastal water body is in good ecological condition. Low risk of eutrophication from macroalgae and phytoplankton based on identified pollution sources.

Risks

Low risk of short-term pollution events. Passing recreational vessels are a potential source of short-term pollution. One recorded short-term pollution incident occurred on 12 August 2008. Moored boats in nearby marine areas are also potential sources.
