Pramousquier Est is a sandy beach located in Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer on the French Riviera. The beach is characterized by infralittoral rocks with photophile algae at its extremities and the presence of Posidonia seagrass meadows 270 metres from the shore, indicating good marine environmental quality. The beach experiences regular wave action due to its steep bathymetric profile, which helps maintain good water circulation. Summer water temperature averages 22°C, reaching 26°C maximum. The beach is frequented by both residential and mooring pleasure boats.

Location

Pramousquier Est is located in Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer on the French Mediterranean coast. The beach borders the commune of Le Lavandou to the west.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Type 1 (pollution risk not established). The bathing water is classified as sufficient, good, or excellent according to Directive 2006/7/CE based on the four preceding bathing seasons. Historical classification records show rating 'A' (good quality) for 2006–2009. The catchment basin is subject to mixed pollution comprising organic matter and heavy metals (cadmium, zinc, copper) from the Pramousquier stream, which drains a naturally vegetated upper basin and urbanised lower basin.

Risks

The beach is exposed to phytoplankton proliferation risk under certain climatic conditions, particularly from genera including Ostreopsis, Dynophysis, Prorocentrum, and Coolia. Risk is low given exposure to dominant winds and swell. The sewerage network passes 30 metres from the bathing zone and may overflow during heavy rainfall events. Potential pollution sources include wastewater discharge diluted in rainwater, stormwater runoff carrying suspended solids and pollutants from the RD559 road (hydrocarbons, heavy metals), and pleasure boat mooring activities. Septic tank discharges are being assessed.
