Plage du Courant is a brackish water beach located on the right bank of the Courant de Mimizan, less than one kilometre from its mouth. It is the only bathing area in the Landes department situated on the banks of a river course. The beach is adapted for children and those who enjoy stand-up paddling or electric catamaran activities. The beach is 200 metres long, 50 metres wide, with a sandy surface and an average depth of 0.80 metres.

Location

Located on the right bank of the Courant de Mimizan in Mimizan, Landes department, several hundred metres upstream from the river mouth. The beach is situated within the urban context of Mimizan Plage.

Water Quality

Classified as 'good' quality as of the end of the 2023 season. Previously classified as 'sufficient' quality since 2019, subject to occasional bacteriological degradations. Water quality is influenced by both marine and continental factors due to proximity to the river mouth.

Risks

Occasional bacteriological degradations. Potential pollution sources identified from surface water inflows, urban context, agricultural activities, wastewater systems, non-collective sanitation, stormwater, industrial activities, leisure activities, animal-origin pollution, maritime pollution, and algal proliferation.
