Plage du Ponton is a freshwater bathing beach located on the shores of Étang d'Aureilhan, the last lake in the Born and Buch coastal lake chain. The bathing zone may experience occasional bacterial degradation. It was downgraded to good quality classification following the 2023 season after previously alternating between excellent and good quality since 2020.

Aureilhan commune. The bathing zone is situated on the banks of Étang d'Aureilhan.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: good quality (downgraded following the 2023 season). Previously classified as excellent or good quality alternately since 2020. Monitoring data available from 2013–2023 for E. coli and enterococci parameters. Type 2 risk profile established, with contamination risk identified and causes known.

Risks

Potential bacterial contamination from fecal sources. Risk of cyanobacteria presence. Risk of leptospirosis and swimmer's dermatitis. Potential pollution from agricultural activities, wastewater collection systems, non-collective sanitation, stormwater runoff, and animal-origin pollution identified.
