Cala Cerrada is a closed cove beach located in Orihuela, Alicante, in the Valencian Community. The beach features a sandy composition with a shoreline of 159 meters and an average width of 20.5 meters. It is bordered by cliffs to the north and south, with Cala Estaca to the north and Cala Bosque to the south. The beach has a maritime promenade and no coastal defence structures. It is situated in an urban area within the Segura hydrographic basin.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020–2023 at the central beach monitoring point: Excellent. The beach is monitored weekly during the bathing season with visual inspection parameters. Weekly reports assess water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness as excellent, good, sufficient, or insufficient. No direct coastal discharges or urban wastewater connections affecting water quality.

Risks

Low frequency and mild impact risks identified: rainfall, urban sanitation, coastal discharges, rivers/canals, industrial installations, port installations, and diffuse pollution. No cyanobacteria proliferation detected in the Valencian coastal region. Phytoplankton and macroalgae monitoring networks are in place.
