Cala Tia Antonia is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing beach in Pulpí, Almería, spanning 65 metres in length with an average width of 20 metres. The beach features golden sand and tranquil swimming conditions with a sandy substrate interspersed with gravel and rocks. It is moderately exposed to waves, with a micromareal tidal range of 0 to 2 metres and currents predominantly flowing eastward.

Mediterranean coastal water. Deep sandy waters with micromareal tidal range (0–2 metres). Dominant current direction east, ESE, ENE. Dominant wave regime from east and ENE associated with levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

Pulpí, Almería province, Andalusia. The beach is easily accessible on foot and by car. Walkways are available for access. The nearest sports harbour is at Águilas, 10 kilometres away.

Facilities

Red Cross lifeguard post, rescue equipment, surveillance equipment, signage, danger warning signage, showers, waste bins, cleaning service, disabled access, walkways. No toilet facilities, no marina services, no water sports rentals, no scuba diving zone, no maritime club.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent for all seasons 2013–2016. Monitoring period 2013–2016. Low-risk short-duration microbiological contamination. Contamination sources include diffuse land use impacts and built surfaces, and a point source from the San Juan de Terreros wastewater treatment plant (AL600), discharging 165,265 cubic metres per year of treated urban wastewater. Risk assessment methodology: deterministic, standard UNE 150008.

Low risk of jellyfish proliferation. Low risk of phytoplankton proliferation. Medium risk of macroalgae proliferation. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk classified as low.
