Mil Palmeras is a marine bathing beach located in Pilar de la Horadada municipality in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach has a longitudinal open configuration with a rigid seafront promenade and no defence structures. It is bounded to the north by Mil Palmeras de Orihuela beach and to the south by Jesuitas beach. The beach extends 1015.6 metres along the shoreline with an average width of 26.4 metres and is composed of natural sand.

Water Quality

Water quality classification results are available for the 2020–2023 bathing seasons from monitoring point Avenida de Francia. The bathing water is managed under Royal Decree 1341/2007 implementing Directive 2006/7/CE. Monitoring includes weekly visual inspection during the bathing season evaluating water analysis, water appearance, and sand cleanliness rated as Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient. Short-term contamination risk factors (rainfall, urban sewerage, coastal discharge) are rated as low frequency with mild impact. Other potential risk factors (rivers/canals, industrial installations, port facilities, diffuse pollution) are rated as low frequency with mild impact.

Risks

Riu Sec discharge: Mixed origin natural watercourse with 2 metre width at mouth, continuous frequency, classified as high risk type, located within beach centre. No compuertas (gates/barriers).
