Cemento is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing beach in Málaga, Andalucía, spanning 525 metres in length with an average width of 15 metres. The beach features dark sand composition and is characterized by moderate wave conditions. It experiences high occupancy and is classified as semi-urban with foot and vehicle access available.

Water

Mediterranean coastal water influenced by Atlantic waters. Water depth is shallow with mud and sand substrate. Tidal range is microtidal (0–2 m). Current flow is dominant toward the northeast. Wave exposure is moderate, with dominant winds from the east and east-southeast (levante wind). Annual precipitation in the area ranges from 600–800 mm with a rainfall intensity index of 25–50%.

Location

Located in Málaga municipality within the Litoral de Málaga area in Andalucía, Spain. The beach is near Puerto de Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria. Access is available on foot or by car.

Facilities

Surveillance equipment is present. Signage is provided. Cleaning service is available. The beach has no lifeguard post, no showers, no toilets, no waste bins, no accessible facilities for disabled persons, no underwater diving zone, no mooring area, and no maritime rental services.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was Excellent for all monitored seasons from 2013 to 2016. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk is classified as low. The Peñon del Cuervo wastewater treatment plant (MA050) is identified as a point pollution source, discharging treated urban effluent through an arroyo.

Risks

Low risk from jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation. Low-level short-duration microbiological contamination risk from diffuse pollution sources including land use in the influence zone, constructed surfaces, and altered terrain.
