La Araña is a natural Mediterranean coastal bathing water located in Málaga, Andalucía. The beach stretches 430 metres with an average width of 25 metres and features golden sand composition. It experiences moderate wave conditions and has a high occupancy level with semi-urban development. The beach is accessible on foot or by car.

Natural Mediterranean coastal water body influenced by Atlantic waters. Shallow waters with silt and sand substrate. Micromareal tidal range of 0–2 metres. Currents dominant towards the northeast. Wave regime dominant from the east and east-southeast associated with Levante wind. Moderately exposed to wave action.

Location

Málaga municipality, Andalucía. Located along the Litoral de Málaga (Málaga Coastline). Access is on foot or by car. Parking is available by car access.

Facilities

Surveillance equipment present. Signage available. Cleaning service provided. No lifeguard station. No toilets, showers, waste bins, or disabled access. No protected zone or nautical services. Club náutico El Candado operates a sports marina nearby.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent for all monitoring seasons: 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Water quality is assessed using deterministic methodology according to UNE 150008 standard. Short-duration microbiological contamination risk is low.

Risks

Low risk of short-duration microbiological contamination from diffuse sources including land use, built surfaces, and alterations in the influence zone. Wastewater treatment plant (EDAR Peñon del Cuervo) identified as a point pollution source. Low risk of jellyfish, phytoplankton, and macroalgae proliferation.
