Arrigorri is an urban beach located at the right margin of the Artibai river estuary in Ondarroa, Bizkaia. The beach is 150 meters long with an average width of 55 meters and is composed of fine sand. It is protected by a breakwater and experiences low-intensity northwest and northeast winds with no significant currents. The beach has high occupancy density throughout the bathing season and is confined by artificial structures.

Water

Transitional water body in the Artibai river estuary. Surface at low tide: 7,425 m². Surface at high tide: 4,125 m². Tidal range: 4.80 m. Minimum tide: 1 m. Water renewal time: 7 days or less. Low wave exposure. The Artibai river has an average flow rate of 2.7 m³/s.

Location

Ondarroa, Bizkaia, Spain. Access from the urban center is via a pedestrian bridge. Parking is available in the urban area.

Water Quality

Risks

Main pollution source is the Artibai river, which historically received untreated wastewater from municipal sewage networks and canning factories. The port proximity may act as a secondary pollution source. The Mijoa stream discharges at the adjacent Saturraran beach.
