Platja de les Salines is a sandy beach located in Cubelles municipality in Barcelona province, Catalonia. The beach has a semi-urban setting positioned between residential and natural environments, with an average width of 50 metres and a length of 450 metres. It features fine sand with a gentle water entry slope and experiences medium summer occupancy. The beach is bordered to the northeast by Platja de la Mota de Sant Pere and to the southeast by the Tèrmica port.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) during the bathing season from June to September. Monitoring follows European Directive 2006/7/CE and Royal Decree 1341/2007. Quality classification categories are Excellent, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient based on microbiological analysis of Escherichia coli and intestinal Enterococci. The beach belongs to water body C25 (Cubelles-Altafulla), a sandy shallow type with low continental influence. Monitoring occurs fortnightly with analysis of fecal contamination indicators.

Risks

The Foix river is the main freshwater input to the sea in this area, providing water during rainfall episodes with intermittent flow. The beach is located in a coastal zone with high hydrological response velocity (VRH). The Cubelles-Cunit wastewater treatment system serves the municipality with biological treatment and a primary submarine outfall at Cunit beach (1,950 metres long at 14 metres depth) and an emergency outfall (1,170 metres long at 11 metres depth).
