Mil Palmeras is a sandy beach located in Orihuela, Alicante, in the Valencian Community. Location

Orihuela, Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain. The beach is bordered to the north by Barranco Rubio beach and to the south by Mil Palmeras de Pilar de la Horadada beach. Parking and accessible entry points are available.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2020–2023 was rated as Excellent. The coastal water body status is classified as Good under Water Framework Directive requirements. Weekly inspections during the bathing season assess visual parameters including water appearance, water quality analysis, and sand cleanliness. Potential short-duration contamination factors from rainfall, urban sewerage, and coastal discharges are all rated as low frequency with mild effects.

Risks

Caño Barranco de Cañada Hermosa discharge outlet located nearby with low risk classification. Occasional frequency of discharge from natural watercourse (barranco) with 15-meter diameter opening. No direct sewerage connections or environmental control points deemed necessary. Potential for algal proliferation (phytoplankton, macroalgae) and jellyfish blooms exists as natural phenomena, though low water renewal is not characteristic of this location. No cyanobacteria episodes detected in Valencian coastal areas.
