Playa Rihuete is an urban beach in Mazarrón, Spain, located in the Mediterranean Sea within the Segura River Basin. The beach extends 500 meters in length with an average width of 20 meters and features golden sand. Water renewal occurs within seven days, and the beach experiences high occupancy with approximately 4,766 maximum bathers daily.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent during 2000–2009, 2010, and 2011. The bathing water mass is located in the coastal water body 'Punta de La Azohía-Puntas de Calnegre', which has good ecological status according to Instruction of Hydrological Planning (Order ARM/2656/2008).

Risks

Toxic phytoplankton proliferation risk is medium. Cells potentially toxic to health were detected in some monitoring campaigns during the bathing season in 2008 and 2009. Jellyfish appear seasonally with peak abundance from early spring to late summer.
