Pontile Bar Lido

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Pontile bar Lido is a bathing area on Lake Serraia, a mountain lake situated at 974 metres above sea level in the Trentino Alto Adige region. The beach is gravelly and grassy with a gentle slope consistent between the emerged and submerged zones. The beach covers approximately 4,500 square metres with a length of around 150 metres and a depth of approximately 30 metres. The lake itself has a surface area of about 452,000 square metres, a maximum depth of 15 metres, and an average depth of 6 metres, surrounded by forests, reed beds, and meadows.

Water

Lake (Lago di Serraia). Surface area approximately 452,000 square metres, maximum depth 15 metres, average depth 6 metres. The lake basin is the Fersina. The water body is situated in a wide plain surrounded by forests, reed beds, and meadows.

Location

Located in Baselga di Pinè, Trento province, Trentino Alto Adige region. The bathing area is accessed via the Pontile bar Lido.

Facilities

Beach equipped with cabins, umbrellas, and loungers. Wooden pontile. Bar venue. Toilet facilities including disabled access. Food and beverage service available. Animals permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2016–2017–2018–2019). No direct discharges enter the lake. Wastewater from adjacent buildings is connected to a circumlacual collector that conveys effluent to the Tressilla treatment plant, which discharges purified water into the Silla stream downstream of the lake. Nitrate concentrations are below vulnerability thresholds. Average total phosphorus concentration for 2014–2016 was 27 µg/l. No point sources of pollution identified. No causes of short-term pollution events detected.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms detected in previous years (Aphanocapsa incerta in September 2016, Aphanocapsa conferta in June 2017, Dolichospermum viguieri in July, August, and September 2017, and August and September 2019). No toxic events reported. On 15 August 2010, debris flow from Monte Costalta (approximately 35,000 cubic metres) partially affected the lake waters, transporting mud with organic matter, phosphorus, and other substances. Annual algal monitoring programme in place (monthly from May to September) including search for toxic algae and toxicological analysis.
