Bøgeskoven is a 130-meter-long bathing beach with fine light sand and small to medium-sized stones at the water's edge. The beach features a bathing pier and is located near Bøgeskoven leisure boat harbour between Faxe Bay and Køge Bay. The surrounding natural areas and beautiful forest create a pleasant atmosphere. The water is classified as brackish water with gradually increasing depth away from the shore.

Water

Brackish water body between Faxe Bay and Køge Bay. The beach is 130 meters long and 5–10 meters wide. Water depth is under 2 meters approximately 250 meters from the shore. The seabed consists primarily of fine sand.

Location

Near Bøgeskoven leisure boat harbour. Access via Bøgeskovvej leading to the parking area at the beach. Good parking facilities are available close to the beach. Public toilet is located at the bus stop approximately 100 meters from the bathing pier. Food can be purchased at a small café 50 meters from the bathing pier.

Bathing pier, public toilet at bus stop 100 meters away, café 50 meters away, parking, trash bins, lifeguard ring, warning sign for water quality warnings (temporary).

Season

1 June to 1 September. Routine water quality monitoring occurs during this period.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022: Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples taken from 2018–2021 for faecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci). Annual revision of classification occurs before the bathing season starts.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) bloom. Low risk of phytoplankton bloom. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) wash-up at the water's edge. Occasional glass shards and litter. Risk of sudden pollution from boat accidents, slurry tanks, or sewer lines. A piped watercourse outlet southeast of the beach receives drainage from fields, forests, and a few unsewered households and carries risk of high faecal bacteria concentrations; swimming in and around this outlet is not recommended.
