Sampieri is a sandy beach of notable tourist interest located in Scicli, Sicily. The beach is delimited by rocky promontories and has a width of 60 metres. It is easily accessible and primarily used by residents of the surrounding area. The coastal area is characterized by a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter precipitation.

Water

Part of the Strait of Sicily (Canale di Sicilia), segment 16 of the coast. The beach extends 1.8 kilometres and has a width of 60 metres.

Location

Scicli, Sicily, in the province of Ragusa. The beach is situated on a 1.8 km coastal stretch between Punta Scalambri and Punta Religione. The nearest port authority is Capitaneria di Porto di Pozzallo.

Facilities

The beach is partly free and partly equipped with amenities. Animals are permitted to access the beach. There are no municipal ordinances or signs prohibiting animal access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The beach is monitored by ASP7, ARPA, the Municipality of Scicli, and the Port Authority of Pozzallo. Potential pollution sources include agricultural activities, intense urbanization, untreated urban discharges, stormwater runoff, and overflow structures. Treated wastewater from the municipal treatment plant is discharged to sea via a submarine outfall.

Risks

Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of stormwater that is conveyed to bathing waters. No pollution sources are present within the bathing area itself.
