Sellerup Strand

Sellerup Strand is a beach located on the south side of Vejle Fjord approximately 10 km east of Vejle city. The beach is approximately 500 meters long and consists of a sand and stone area about 20 meters wide with relatively shallow water. Bathing water quality is classified as excellent based on data from 2018-2021. The beach is monitored for water quality during the bathing season from June 1 to September 15.

Fjord water body. Beach approximately 500 meters long, consisting of sand and stone area approximately 20 meters wide. Relatively shallow water depth. Salinity approximately 20 ‰. Water circulation is variable.

Location

Located on the south side of Vejle Fjord, approximately 10 km east of Vejle city, Denmark. Responsible authority: Vejle Municipality, Teknik & Miljø, Kirketorvet 22, 7100 Vejle. Parking information is available at the beach.

Season

Official monitoring season: June 1 to September 15.

Water Quality

Bathing water classified as excellent (based on 2018-2021 data). Water quality monitoring conducted from June 1 to September 15. No management measures have been implemented as bathing water quality is excellent.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria blooms, particularly in late summer and after rainy periods followed by warm weather. Macroalgae (seaweed) can occur at the water's edge; bathing is discouraged near large accumulations of washed-up seaweed. Low risk of phytoplankton growth, highest risk in late summer. Short-term pollution from heavy rainfall typically lasts maximum 3 days after rain stops. Occasional pollution from glass fragments, waste, and chemical contamination including oil spills can occur.
