Tirsbæk Strand is a bathing beach located on the north side of Vejle Fjord, approximately 5 km east of Vejle city. The beach extends about 250 metres and consists of white sand approximately 20 metres wide with relatively shallow water. The area is classified as excellent quality based on data from 2018–2021. The water body experiences variable current directions with salinity of approximately 20‰.

Location

Located on the north side of Vejle Fjord, approximately 5 km east of Vejle city. Parking is available at the beach, with warning signs displayed at the car park.

Monitoring season: 1 June to 15 September.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (based on data from 2018–2021). Monitoring occurs during the bathing season (1 June to 15 September). Water clarity is assessed; bathers are advised not to swim if water is unclear and feet cannot be seen at knee depth.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms, typically occurring after heavy rain followed by warm periods. Risk of phytoplankton growth is small, highest in late summer. Macroalgae (seaweed) can occur at the water's edge; bathing is discouraged near large accumulations of washed-up seaweed due to potential toxin formation and bacterial survival in decaying matter. Short-term pollution from combined sewer overflows possible during prolonged heavy rain, typically lasting maximum 3 days. Glass shards, waste, and chemical pollution including oil spills can occasionally occur.
