Skiveren and Kandestederne is a sandy beach with a sandy bottom located in Skagen, Frederikshavn Municipality. The beach extends approximately 14 km and is 50–70 metres wide. It borders Hjørring municipality to the south and continues northward from Skiveren strand through Kandestederne. The water is salt with low currents that vary in direction but predominantly flow from the southwest. Water clarity exceeds 1 metre visibility depth.

Water

Salt water body. Water depth is approximately 0.5 metres at the shore, 1 metre at 5 metres distance from shore, and 1.5 metres at 15 metres distance from shore. Water currents are weak to strong and vary in direction, predominantly from the southwest. Water clarity exceeds 1 metre visibility depth.

Water Quality

Water is monitored for faecal indicator bacteria Escherichia coli and Enterococcus throughout the bathing season (1 June to 1 September). Water quality classification is determined from samples collected over the last 4 seasons. Water quality can be classified as excellent, good, satisfactory, or poor. The Skiverrenden stream outlet, located approximately 20 metres north of the bathing water station, may be a pollution source. No other known pollution sources are identified in the bathing water profile area.

Risks

The Skiverrenden stream outlet located approximately 20 metres north of the bathing water station may be contaminated. Bathing in the stream outlet and immediate vicinity is not recommended.
