Søby Sø is a sand beach with a sandy bottom located in Kølkær. The bathing water profile extends approximately 100 metres along the shore, with a beach width of about 10 metres. Water depth is approximately 0.5 metres at 15 metres from shore and approximately 1 metre at 33 metres from shore. The water is typically clear with visibility exceeding 1 metre, and algae are absent or very rare.

Søby Sø, Søbysøvej, Kølkær, Herning Kommune, Denmark. Herning Kommune is the responsible authority.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Classification based on routine monitoring for indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season from 2013–2017. No known pollution sources in the bathing water profile area.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacterial (blue-green algae) bloom is low. Risk of phytoplankton bloom is low. Blooms can occur, particularly during prolonged warm periods with nutrient-rich water.
