Water depth is approximately 0.5 metres at 4 metres from shore, 1 metre at 8 metres from shore, and 1.5 metres at 12 metres from shore. Water visibility typically exceeds 1 metre.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as Excellent. Classification is based on routine monitoring during the bathing season for two indicator bacteria: E. coli and enterococci. No known pollution sources exist within the bathing water profile area. The lake is groundwater-fed.

Risks

Risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) bloom is low. Risk of phytoplankton bloom is low. However, algal blooms can occur suddenly, particularly during prolonged periods of warm, nutrient-rich water. Algae may produce toxic substances causing headache, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhoea upon contact or ingestion.
