Skærbæk Sø is a sand beach with a sandy bottom located in Herning Municipality, Denmark. The bathing water profile extends approximately 25 meters to the west and 40 meters to the east, with a beach width of about 5 meters. The water is clear with visibility exceeding 1 meter and contains no or very few algae. The bathing water has been classified as Excellent quality based on routine monitoring of fecal indicator bacteria between 2013 and 2017.

Water

Lake formed by damming of Gunnerup Bæk. Beach width approximately 5 meters. Water depth approximately 0.5 meters at 5 meters from shore, 1 meter at 10 meters from shore, and 1.5 meters at 15 meters from shore. Water clarity exceeds 1 meter visibility depth.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent quality. Classification based on routine monitoring during bathing season 2013-2017, measuring E. coli and enterococci indicator bacteria. No known sources of fecal pollution within the bathing water profile area. Classification is reviewed annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Blooms can occur suddenly, particularly during extended warm periods with nutrient-rich water. Visible signs include water discoloration and foam formation at the water's edge. Algae may produce toxins causing headache, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea upon contact.
