Location

Located at Lynæs Harbour, Halsnæs Municipality, Denmark. Access via Lynæs Havnevej where parking spaces and information signage are available. The surrounding area includes Lynæs Harbour and urban development with combined sewers in the hinterland.

Facilities

Lifeguard present. Bathing pier available. Parking spaces at Lynæs Havnevej. No beach. No disabled facilities. Information signage present.

Water Quality

Not yet classified. A new bathing area; classification requires a minimum of 16 water samples from the current and previous year. Potential pollution sources include Hundested Wastewater Treatment Plant, which discharges treated wastewater approximately 500 meters from the shore, and combined sewer overflows to Lynæs Harbour. Exceedances are assessed to be caused by wastewater discharge during heavy rainfall, potentially transported to the pier by onshore wind and southward current. Bathing is discouraged for up to 3 days after heavy rainfall.

Risks

Blue-green algae blooms occur rarely. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) along the pier; decaying seaweed can release toxins and harbour disease-causing bacteria. Wastewater discharge during heavy rainfall. Small risk of phytoplankton growth. Occasional litter, broken glass, dead seals, and oil spills.
