Water

Coastal water body with shallow depth. Beach extends 100 meters in length. Bottom consists almost exclusively of sand. Current direction is predominantly north to south.

Location

Lynæs Campingplads, Halsnæs Municipality, Denmark. Access via Søndergade. Located adjacent to Lynæs Fort with urban development in the surrounding area. A rowing club (Bagerstrædets Roklub) is approximately 700 meters north of the beach.

Campsite facilities available. No lifeguards. No bathing bridge. No disabled access facilities. Toilets available. Information board present. Parking available. Public transport access available.

Bathing water profile is updated annually before the bathing season. Monitoring and control measures are implemented throughout the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Based on 16 samples from 2018-2021. Historical classifications show variation from good to excellent quality over two decades. Excess discharges from Hundested Wastewater Treatment Plant occur approximately 2-3 times per bathing season, typically following heavy rainfall. The treatment plant discharges treated wastewater approximately 500 meters offshore.

Risks

Blue-green algae blooms can rarely occur and may cause headaches, skin irritation, fever, nausea, and diarrhea. Macroalgae (seaweed) present with risk of toxic release from decaying algae. Heavy rainfall exceeding 15-20 mm per day can cause short-term pollution from wastewater discharge, lasting a few days. Occasional incidents such as litter, broken glass, dead seals, and oil spills may occur.
