Villaggio Camarina is a sandy beach located in Ragusa, Sicily, with a gently sloping sandy seabed and dune formations behind the shore. The area features typical Mediterranean scrubland vegetation and a subtropical dry climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter precipitation. The beach is easily accessible and serves as an important tourist destination.

Water

Sicilian Channel (IT1908153). Sandy seabed with gentle slope. The water body is located in hydrographic basin N.15 of coastal areas and the Ippari and Irminio basins.

Location

Ragusa municipality, Sicily. The bathing area is part of coastal zone 15 between Capo Scalambri and Licata. Coordinates: Y=36.8510, X=14.4505. Beach width is 40 metres with an extension of 0.75 kilometres. Parking and facilities are available in the residential village area.

Facilities

The beach is equipped and free to access. Animal access is permitted; no municipal ordinances or signs prohibit it. The area is used solely for bathing.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No wastewater treatment through municipal sewerage; the tourist complex has its own wastewater treatment facility. Heavy rainfall can cause overflow of stormwater discharge into bathing waters. Agricultural activities are identified as potential pollution sources. No anomalous situations have been recorded in recent years.

Risks

Stormwater discharge and storm overflow systems may affect water quality during heavy precipitation. Agricultural activities in the hinterland are potential pollution sources.
