Spiaggia Pini

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Spiaggia Pini is a rocky and grassy beach located on Lake Garda in Riva del Garda, Trentino Alto Adige. The beach covers 15,000 square meters with a gentle slope between the emerged and submerged zones. The northern section spans 7,000 square meters and lies north of the cycling and pedestrian path. The beach features grassland with a pebble shoreline and has been classified as excellent for water quality.

Water

Lake Garda. The bathing area extends 0.65 kilometers and sits at 65 meters above sea level. The lake belongs to the Sarca watershed basin.

Location

Riva del Garda, Trentino Alto Adige, Italy. The beach is located west of the Porto San Nicolò harbour area. Contact: Comune di Riva del Garda, Piazza III Novembre nr. 5, 38066 Riva del Garda (TN).

Facilities

Refreshment point with toilet facilities including disabled access and showers. Summer lifeguard service and first aid provided by a qualified lifeguard. The bathing area is delimited by buoys and marker floats.

Season

Monitoring period: May to September (monthly algal monitoring programme). Profile updated April 2020.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2016–2019). Nitrate concentrations are well below vulnerability thresholds. Mean total phosphorus concentration 2014–2018 was 16 µg/l. No point sources of pollution identified. No causes of possible pollution detected in short-duration pollution events.

Risks

Cyanobacterial bloom event recorded in August 2018 (Cyanodictyon sp., 3.13×10⁴ cell/ml) with no reported effects. No anomalous situations reported in the last four years. A diving prohibition order is in effect at the panoramic pier.
