Sud Picentino is a sandy bathing beach located in Pontecagnano Faiano, in the Salerno province of the Campania region. The beach features sandy shores with tourist structures and has a low coastline with residential settlements and moderate urbanization. Extensive agricultural areas extend inland from the coast. The Picentino River mouth is located north of the bathing area.

Location

Pontecagnano Faiano, Salerno province, Campania region. The beach is situated along a sandy coastline with the Picentino River mouth to the north.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (2020–2023). Identified pollution sources: Picentino River to the west, an irrigation canal to the east, and an S8 pumping station with emergency spillway (coordinates 40.6193°N, 14.8470°E) serving the treatment facility. Urban wastewater from Pontecagnano Faiano is treated at an intercommunal biological treatment plant in Salerno and discharged into the Picentino River.
